Refreshing Your Bathroom for Summer

Your bathroom might not be the first place you think of when it comes to summer prep, but it absolutely deserves a seasonal refresh. Between heavier skincare in winter and forgotten products lurking in corners, your bathroom can end up cluttered without you realising.

Summer usually brings different routines — lighter moisturisers, more SPF, and quicker showers — so it’s the perfect time to declutter and organise your space for comfort and ease.

Start with the Basics

Go shelf by shelf, drawer by drawer. You don’t need to empty the entire bathroom — just take it in sections.

As you go through:

• Toss expired products or those you haven’t used in months.

• Get rid of anything with a strange smell or separated texture — especially creams and lotions.

• Let go of freebies you never liked (looking at you, hotel toiletries).

You’ll be surprised how much space you free up just by being honest about what you actually use.

Simplify Your Summer Routine

Your summer bathroom kit should be light, cooling, and quick:

• Gel cleansers instead of creamy ones

• Lightweight moisturisers or aloe vera

• Face mist or toner in the fridge (so refreshing!)

• Sunscreen front and centre

• Body scrubs to help with heat and sweat build-up

Group these items together in a caddy or on a shelf so they’re easy to reach.

If you share the bathroom, consider using labels or baskets so everyone has their own space — especially if there are kids or teens in the mix.

Refresh Towels and Linens

Summer is the perfect time to check on your towels. Are they still soft? Are any stained or scratchy?

You don’t need a hundred of them — just a few good quality ones that dry quickly in the heat. Donate the old ones to pet shelters or use them as cleaning cloths.

Fold and stack neatly or roll them if you’re short on space. Add a little scent sachet if you want that spa feeling.

Clear the Shower Area

I often find 4–5 bottles of half-used shampoo in showers. Pick one or two that you like and use those up first.

Use a hanging shower caddy or corner shelf to store products off the floor, and give the area a quick scrub while you’re there. It instantly feels fresher.

Add a Summer Touch

Little things go a long way:

• A lighter fragrance diffuser (like citrus or mint)

• A plant or succulent if you’ve got natural light

• A new bath mat or soap dispenser

• Cooling wipes or sprays stored in a drawer

Make it feel like a calm space to escape the heat, not just a place to rush through.

Refreshing your bathroom doesn’t need to take hours. With just a few simple switches and a mini-declutter, you’ll have a cooler, calmer space that works better for you this summer.
