Organizing your Bedroom into a Peaceful Decluttered Haven
You may be surprised to hear this, but even professional organisers have their moments when they need to (re)organise their home. Whenever I am feeling slightly stressed, I reassess my bedroom and see what I can change to get it more organised. Why the bedroom? That is the first place I wake up (unless of course I fall asleep on the couch whilst watching another HBO series) and the last room I see when I go to sleep. I want to wake up and fall asleep not feeling stressed and overwhelmed by clutter, so I ensure that my bedroom is a peaceful decluttered haven. If you are following me on my social media (@decluttrme if you haven’t followed me yet!), you will know about my love of IKEA and their products. With the new items in store, I thought now is as good a time as ever to reorganize my room. These are the products I obtained and used to organize my room. Strykis Hanger and Trouser hanger These hangers are covered with that felt like substance which means silky tops and blouses are not likely to fall off …ever. They are made of metal and quite heavy so I hung the trousers on them without the hanger straining. Not only is it double purpose but reduces the amount of space used in my wardrobe.
I wear jeans whilst working, networking and socializing. To be honest if I can get away with wearing jeans, I will wear them. So, as you can imagine, I have a big collection of them and need to hang them properly. The Strykis Trouser hanger was perfect as it could take the weight of my jeans and didn’t crease them like other hangers can do. Slaktin BagThis versatile bag can be used in many parts of the home and even in the car (scarves and flip flops are now stored in one of these). I also use it in the bedroom to store decluttered clothes and accessories. Once the bag is filled, I can take it for donation or organize to sell the items. My mantra to anyone and everyone is if you buy something new, you must declutter TWO items. When decluttering, put them in this bag!
Slaktin BoxMost wardrobes, cupboards and drawers are wide which means you either stack clothes up high and let them fall every so often or have less stuff (guess which option I go for). I got these boxes to store my lounge wear (including my collection of batman trousers) properly. Now I can pull the box out and choose the item to wear without clothes falling on me.The boxes are also being used to store items in my Lixult cupboards (see below). Slaktin Compartments These are ideal to store accessories such as my belts and light scarves. I used two boxes to store my travel items as you can see in the below picture. Now I can pick up and pack even more quickly.
Lixhult Storage CombinationI wanted to brighten up my life and tend to not have matching furniture, so these units were meant to be mine. It only took an hour to assemble (except the legs, which I needed a man to help me fix) and less than a few minutes to fill with stuff that needed a home. The red unit was filled with my many flip flops (we all have one clothing, accessory or beauty item we buy a lot of (everyone does!).
The cats got their own special cupboard for their toys and their other items.
One cupboard is now dedicated to my (decluttered) scarves, which are essential for air con weather. The smaller cupboard is now storing my beachwear. The smaller ones are cute but limiting for my storage needs. However, they are perfect to keep in my hallway and to store my reusable bags.Which products do you think you will be getting to help you get organized in your bedroom and home? Let me know as I am always interested to see how people get organized using the same products!
